Bangladesh Customs has legal provisions for transshipment of goods. Sections 120 – 125 of the Customs Act, 1969 incorporates regulations relating to transshipment of imported goods from one customs port of entry to some other customs stations within Bangladesh or to a foreign destination.

Transshipment of goods under customs control from the port of entry to another customs port within the country is also termed as domestic transit. For the movement in the case of transshipment/ domestic transit of imported cargo from the port of entry to the port of delivery, Bangladesh Customs follows this practice. This is currently in use in railway movement from Chittagong Customs to Kamalapur ICD Customs.
